Volunteering brings together a diverse range of people from all backgrounds and walks of life. People drawn to the island share a love of the outdoors and an interest in our historic and cultural heritage.
Many volunteers are surprised at how much fun it can be to help others. Not every volunteer experience is the same, but by finding an opportunity that matches your interests, you have a good chance of having fun while giving time. Opportunities include, but are not limited to, the fields of interpretation, visitor services, park maintenance, administrative support, providing educational experiences for school children and the AIA Gift Shop.
Volunteer orientations are held throughout the year on Angel Island and include presentations related to the island, its history, an understanding of California State Parks, and a driving tour with an overview of historic locations.
